Volunteer

Help us build community in Byker!

Welcome! We are so pleased that you are considering a volunteering role at The Lighthouse Project!

We’ve transformed the church building on Byker Hill into an amazing new youth and community centre and we need your help! We’re on the hunt for a team of volunteers to make this building somewhere everyone in Byker can enjoy events, support and community.

We understand that volunteering is a big commitment, but we believe that the benefits we offer in return are just as valuable. Whether it’s finding something you love doing, feeling a sense of belonging, or developing personal and professional skills, we hope your time with us will be as rewarding for you as it is for the community.

This page contains everything you need to know about The Lighthouse Project and how you can get involved.

Taking into account the different resources needed to thrive (such as the outdoor court, kitchen set up, and free spaces) I believe that as a volunteer, I would be provided with the perfect environment to truly help those attending projects, either through assisting in cooking tasks, playing games outside, or being someone those involved can come to if they need to talk about their struggles.
