Hello from Byker Scouts!
We’re thrilled to be part of The Lighthouse Project, creating fun and engaging opportunities for young people to learn, grow, gain skills for life and make lifelong memories.

We run Beavers and Cubs every Thursday from 6:00–7:00 PM, followed by Scouts from 7:15–8:30 PM. Through activities like teamwork challenges, outdoor adventures, and skill-building sessions, we help young people develop confidence, resilience, and a sense of belonging.

At Nourish Food School, we strive to positively shape the way people see, eat, and experience food—every day and at every age. Through engaging cookery classes, workshops, and food events, we aim to share the skills, knowledge, and confidence everyone needs to enjoy food as a positive part of life.

Children North East deliver services, support and initiatives that provide a platform for children, young people and families to work through issues, take action and provide them with the tools to reach their full potential. We create life-changing differences for babies, children and young people in their families, schools and communities.

‘We’re proud to support young people by providing education, advice, and guidance around Sexual Health (SH). Our work reaches schools, colleges, universities, family hubs, and local communities, ensuring that young people have access to trusted information and support.
We’re excited to be setting up a regular Sexual Health drop in at The Lighthouse Project. This will be a welcoming space where young people can connect with our dedicated SH Youth Work team to access advice, support, and guidance tailored to their needs.

Byker Primary School is a school of sanctuary welcoming and supporting all, with a determination to provide the very best education for every child aged 2-11years old.  We aim to develop resilient, respectful, confident and ambitious learners who have the skills for life long learning.  We believe that children should be exposed to rich creative experience which celebrate diversity and develop cultural awareness.  We place children and families at the core of our ethos through creating a safe, caring, happy and nurturing environment where children can thrive.  We are exited to work alongside The Lighthouse Project to continue to develop our broad and balanced curriculum, striving to meet the needs of our changing population both socially and academically.

Unfolding Theatre creates big-hearted theatre that brings people together. Our community-based creative processes engage unexpected combinations of people to generate warm, distinctive theatre, rich in ideas.

We’re thrilled to bring our Byker-based youth theatre, East End Story Makers, to The Lighthouse Project starting September 2025.

Integration Station is a refugee- and migrant-led organisation supporting individuals and families to build new lives in the UK.

Working closely with grassroots refugee community organisations (RCOs), we offer:

• Advice & Advocacy – Housing, immigration, benefits, and local services
• Education & Employment – ESOL, skills training, and job support
• Youth & Community Activities – Music, sport, mentoring, and clubs
• Health & Wellbeing – Mental health, fitness, and healthcare access
• Cultural Inclusion & Policy – Amplifying community voices to influence change

We also provide consultancy to help communities establish groups, develop policies, and secure funding. Our mission is to reduce isolation, build confidence, and create a more inclusive society.

We’re proud to be working alongside The Lighthouse Project to deliver two new youth and community-based services:

• Friday Drop-In (10:00 AM – 2:00 PM)
  A welcoming space for social connection and tailored support. We offer advice and guidance on housing, welfare benefits, Universal Credit, employment, and referrals to relevant services.
• Friday Youth Club (5:00 – 7:00 PM)
  A weekly session for young people from refugee and new migrant backgrounds in the East End of Newcastle. The club provides a safe, supportive environment to build confidence, connect with others, and take part in positive activities.

We’re Stomping Grounds North East—a forest school and charity – and we’re so excited to bring our outdoor holiday club to Byker this summer in partnership with The Lighthouse Project!

Join us on Thursdays this summer:

Our expert forest school practitioners lead small groups (1 adult per 6 children) in beautiful outdoor spaces. Children aged 5-12 will explore nature, manage risks, and lead their own discoveries – building confidence and strong relationships.

Activities include fire lighting, whittling, foraging, hammock swinging, crafts, and more – all proven to support mental health and well-being.

Alex is a freelance dance artist working around the North East of England whose movement practice stems from Breaking (Breakdance) and Contemporary dance techniques. Alex has an extensive professional performance career with over 15 years experience working with dance companies, independent choreographers and agencies around England such as, Surface Area Dance, TrashDolly’s, Dance City, Anthony Logiudice Dance, Jack Drum Arts and Southpaw.

Alex’s passion for dance and teaching young people dance has been at the forefront recently regularly teaching young people on Centre of Advance training (CAT) street dance at Dance City ages 8-18 and one of the lead teachers for Dance City Breaking crew ‘Break City’.

‘I am passionate about sharing my knowledge and skills to young people and using dance to build on new skills, promoting high level dance training, creative self expression, community building and good health and well-being’.

Sanderson Education Hub is a Community Interest Company (CIC) supporting children and young people across a wide range of ages and settings. We offer alternative provision, home education support, and well-being programmes, all delivered through a holistic, inclusive approach that nurtures learning, confidence, and personal growth.

Our partnership with The Lighthouse Project gives our young people access to state-of-the-art facilities and, for us as a CIC, the chance to be part of a vibrant network of organisations with local young people at their core. Together, we look forward to creating opportunities that help learners flourish, unlock potential, and enjoy the journey along the way.

Family Mental Fitness North East is a community interest company dedicated to supporting children and families through free-to-access creative, sensory, and therapeutic wellbeing programmes.

Our work blends play, literacy, art, movement, and mindfulness to help children develop confidence, resilience, and emotional understanding. We deliver a wide range of evidence-informed programmes targeting sleep, movement, and connection — using a variety of approaches, including online gaming therapy.

We also encompass our partner organisation Gentle Pace Therapy and Clinical Care, offering hypnotherapy, guided relaxation, and trauma-informed therapeutic support for adults and families.

Alongside our wellbeing programmes, we create community reading and writing projects under our series “Professor Pace Presents”, giving children a voice and inspiring families to connect through creativity. Published titles include a neuroscience-informed guide to sensory techniques for sleep and a children’s poetry anthology.

North Star Co-Design was founded in 2022 by theatre maker Louie Ingham and writer Lee Mattinson, who have worked together since 2015 on a series of socially-engaged and place-based projects. We co-create with people in a variety of settings and our process is a person-led approach to making ambitious new ideas happen.

We are powered by a co-led idea and experiment with doing things differently in curious and unmissable new ways. With a combined 40 years working in the cultural sector, we:

• Activate cultural experiences in the most underserved wards
• Co-create with community collaborators and guest specialists
• Make ambitious, daring and bold new work

Our work often involves food and the shared experience of nourishing both cultural and physical hunger. A great leveller, we break bread with residents and psycho-geographers, farmers and specialists, refugees from Syria and Geordies from Devon. We focus on illuminating the beauty and chaos of the world we live in and believe it is the idea that binds us.

North Star Co-Design recently worked on the Byker Lookbook project, in partnership with The Lighthouse Project and funded by Fagus Anstruther Memorial Trust. Inspired by the work of Finnish photographer Sirkka-Liisa Konttinen, who documented the world of the Byker Wall Estate in the 1970’s and again in 2009, the project provides community collaborators with disposable cameras and, following a series of writing and photography workshops, invites them to capture their world as only they could. The result will be the Byker Lookbook, published in 2025 and the culmination of a triptych of creative projects with the community.

Cricketqube brings cricket and movement into community spaces across the North East — from care homes and schools to family centres and parks. Our travelling-circus model takes adapted, inclusive versions of the game directly to people of all ages and abilities, helping build confidence, connection and wellbeing through fun, accessible sport.

Join us for our Family Cricket sessions at the Lighthouse Project, every Friday, 4-5 pm.

Active Future Newcastle has been established to instil a love of movement and increasing the likelihood of lifelong participation. We instil this love through traditional and non-traditional games.

Our Free Play Multi-sport session on Thursday’s at The Lighthouse Project allows the children to take the lead in games, activities and challenges in a safe and enjoyable environment in which they can explore and express themselves through sport.

Northern Pulse CIC is a community focused music organisation based in the North East. We use the power of music, creativity, and technology to engage, inspire, and empower young people. We design and deliver DJ workshops that encourage self-expression, build confidence, and develop transferable skills.

Through partnerships with local youth centres, community organisations, and schools, we create inclusive, safe spaces where participants can learn to mix, produce, and perform music. We also promote positive mental health, social inclusion, and community connection through music.

We are a community-led group bringing together Ukrainians in the North East of England, many of whom have had to leave their homes and rebuild their lives far from their country. Through cultural events, social gatherings, and wellbeing activities, we create a space where people can feel safe, supported, and connected.

Our partnership with The Lighthouse Project means so much to us. It is more than just a venue — it is a place where people come to find warmth, understanding, and a sense of belonging. Here, friendships are formed, stories are shared, and moments of joy and normality are rediscovered.

We are deeply grateful for the kindness, openness, and ongoing support of The Lighthouse Project team. Together, we are helping to rebuild not only community, but also hope.

Men’s Pie Club (MPC) is an initiative of Food Nation, and is an ever-growing network of nearly 40 clubs across northern England. MPC enables local men of all ages and from all walks of life to share social time, have access to quality food, and improve their engagement with the local community. Our overarching aim is to reduce social isolation and improve wellbeing. Our clubs are free to members and provide consistent and sustainable support for local people in partnership with their communities. We are always striving to open new clubs, while ensuring that we can maintain those that already exist, and are very excited to be launching our new Byker Pie Club in partnership with the incredible Lighthouse Project!

Newcastle GP Services (NGPS) is the GP federation for Newcastle-upon-Tyne. Our role is to support GP practice to provide excellent clinical care and a positive patient experience. We deliver a range of services including community outreach on our health bus, Monty, student nurse training and support, health research and social prescribing.

Social prescribing enables GPs, nurses, and other primary care professionals to refer people to a range of local, non-clinical services to support their health and wellbeing.

Our team of social prescribers offer social and practical support to patients within their GP surgery or out in the community. All GP practices in Newcastle host a social prescriber who supports patients, and our team of social prescribers is the largest in the North East region

Sport can change people’s lives!

Hat-Trick has been supporting children and young people across Newcastle and Gateshead for almost 20 years. We are a charitable sports organisation delivering a wide range of innovative sports programmes, with around 70 sessions taking place every week in some of the most deprived communities across Newcastle and Gateshead.

It doesn’t matter how good a young person is at sport; it’s about using sport as a hook to help young people develop, grow in confidence and enhance existing skills. Through our programmes, we create pathways into further training, leadership opportunities, qualifications and employment.

Through sport, we support and create better opportunities for young people, helping them to build brighter futures.

At Northumberland Wildlife Trust, people are at the heart of everything we do and we believe that everyone should have the chance to enjoy and learn more about the natural world. We work across the local community to inspire, educate and motivate people to champion their local wild places. As well as protecting vulnerable species and habitats, we also seek to raise awareness of local conservation issues and our native wildlife, and encourage people to join us as supporters.

We’re excited to be partnering with The Lighthouse Project to deliver the second year of our wildlife gardening course; an introduction for beginners to wildlife gardening. With friendly and supportive groups, participants will take part in activities including wildlife gardening, learning about nature in the city, observing and recording nature, nature-based arts and crafts, and learning to look after your local environment.

Kids Kabin run workshops in partnership with The Lighthouse Project in Byker.

Kids Kabin is a small North East charity, established in 1994 in Walker, Newcastle upon Tyne. Our approach is simple: we work on young people’s terms, bringing high-quality, hands-on creative and practical workshops directly into communities in areas of Newcastle, Middlesbrough and East Durham.

We empower young people (aged 8-13) to explore and develop their skills through activities such as arts and crafts, woodwork, cookery, pottery, and bike maintenance. Sessions are co-produced with young people and shaped by their interests and ideas, helping them build their confidence and social skills.

In 2026, we have had a pilot programme of our ‘Construction Academy’ at our Walker centre, and hope to continue to develop opportunities in this area.
